SMITH, Doreen (nee Dyke)

January 27th, 1926 to November 15th, 2022

Passed away peacefully at Birchmere Retirement Home in Orillia on Tuesday, November 15th, 2022, in her 96th year.

Beloved wife and best friend of the late Philip Smith (2004). Loving mother of Diana Wells (Stephen), Roy Smith (Monica), and Wayne Smith (Anne). Cherished Nana to Owen Gerrard, Tyler Gerrard, Leo Wells (Tanya), Andrew Smith (Karoline), Cameron Smith, Clare Wells (Chris), and Jacqueline Edwards (Chris). Proud Great Nana to Sawyer, Sophie, Blake, Zoe and Nathan.

Doreen will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends for her enthusiasm, her relentless energy and her many passions in life. You could always catch her reminiscing about her humble upbringings on the family farm in Woodstock, New Brunswick; her countless fond memories of her deep, enduring love and time with her husband of 57 years; and her unwavering support and care for others. While Doreen was diminutive in stature, one can reflect upon the fact that “sometimes, the smallest things take up the most room in your heart."
