1928 - 2022

Clara passed peacefully on Sunday October 2, 2022 at Orillia Soldier’s Memorial Hospital, surrounded by the love and presence of her daughters, Donna Trimble, Deborah Tanner (Cal), and Lynda Rozon (JP).
She is now resting comfortably and will be reunited with her husband William (Bud) Tingey (1971). Born in Culloden Ontario on September 27, 1928 to Wilbert and Gertude Kelly, predeceased by her brother Robert Kelly and sisters Bernice Pettman and Ruth Nethercott. Beloved Grandmother (Gram) to Scott Thomson (Zina), Shane Black (Danielle), Jenna Zinken (Brock), Dave Trimble (Tara), Kate Demeuleneare (Geoff), Michelle Rozon (Cody) and Caroline Rozon. She was the proud Great Grandmother (GG) to Tanner, Haylee, Bryce, Quentin, Kaleb and Georgia. Clara will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends.
Clara spent the majority of her adult life in Orillia, having worked many years as an accounting manager for automotive dealerships, retiring in 1993, at which time she pursued her passion for quilting. As in her working career, she gave it her all, creating many heirloom quilts for her fortunate family recipients to treasure for years to come. She took on a second career that she finally retired from at the age of 90, teaching others many of her skills, such as applique, hand quilting, and the infamous quilt-as-you-go “Clara’s Quilt”. She was the recipient of many awards, including a Best in Show at the 1997 International Plowing Match. Clara’s gentle manner, as well as her vast experience, has inspired many others to pursue their creativity. She belonged to the Simcoe County Quilt Guild and was instrumental in establishing the Orillia Quilt Guild, serving on the board and helping promote a vibrant quilting community.
Clara’s family is extremely grateful for the compassionate and professional care she received from everyone at Solder’s Memorial Hospital.
Cremation will be followed by a visitation at Mundell’s Funeral Home on Wednesday October 12th from 7 to 9 pm, followed by a service at 11 am on Thursday October 13th, 2022.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Orillia Soldier’s Memorial Hospital would be appreciated, but most importantly, please take some time to reflect and celebrate the life of this kind and compassionate woman.
