Passed peacefully at the Royal Victoria Hospital on Monday, May 20th after a 6 year battle with Melanoma.  He leaves behind his wife of 46 years Donna.  Loving father of Cathy (Ed) of Princeton BC, Scott (Donna) of Manitouwadge, and Tara (Mike) of Barrie. Proud Grandpa of Jason, Chris, Amanda, Andrew (Amy), Kennedy, Jake and great grandpa of Cole. Brother of Mary Carnes of Orillia and Wayne (Christine) Townes of Barrie. fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  Dad loved spending time with his grandkids playing card games and mini golf. He loved the Blue Jays, the Leafs but most importantly he loved cheering for Barrie minor hockey, the Colts and the Barrie Bombers. He enjoyed keeping active, playing pool, and riding his bike.  He was an active volunteer for over 20 years at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital, the blood donor clinics, and the Salvation Army kettles.  We would like to express our thanks to Dr. Reinders, Dr. Laakso as well as the Cancer Care Team at RVH especially Dr. Yu and Dr. Tam for their care of dad over the years.  Friends and family will be received at the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St. N. Orillia on Wednesday, May 22 from 2-4 and 6-8 with service being held at St. David’s Anglican Church Thursday, May 23 at 2 pm. If desired, donations could be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, St. David’s Church, and Hospice.  We are left with wonderful memories of a man who loved his family and was loved in return.
