Passed away at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital in Orillia on Monday July 6th, 2020 at the age of 77. Beloved wife of John for 55 years. Loving mother of Sylvia (Theo), John, René (Amy) and Sonya (Lance). Cherished grandmother of Emily (Mathew), Rhys, Claire, Erik and Madeline. Dear great-grandmother of Jay. After her family survived WWII and the North Sea Flood of 1953, they moved to Canada only to experience their house submerged yet again in the flooding of Hurricane Hazel in 1954. After marrying and raising her family in Orillia, Cathy retrained at Georgian College as a Health Care Aid. In this role she cared for the elderly for over 20 years, after which she continued to volunteer with the elderly for another 10 years during her retirement. Her tireless energy was also devoted to playing tennis, choral singing, cross country skiing, bike rides and camping with her family. For many years Cathy and her husband John enjoyed annual trips to the Caribbean exploring Aruba, Curaçao and the Dutch Antilles. Later she was known for her cribbage and Yahtzee skills in the beloved company of her grandchildren.
