WOYTIW, Christine (nee Leipold)

24 December 1934 - 1 October 2022, passed away peacefully at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital. Born in the former Yugoslavia to German heritage and uprooted by the Second World War, Christine came to Canada at 15 years of age and lived most of her life in Hamilton, Ontario. Intelligent, independent, resourceful, and strong-willed, she was also a loving and kind (grand)parent, sibling, and friend. She will be deeply missed by many. Predeceased by her husband John Woytiw, brother Jack Leipold, sister Elizabeth Hohnsbein, Christine is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Annemarie and Timo Vartija, grandchildren Larisa Vartija, Nathan Vartija, and Devin Vartija, great-grandchild Brynlee Vartija, sister Hildegard Fittler, brother John Leipold, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to be made to the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Foundation , where Christine received such excellent care.
