Passed away peacefully at the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital on Saturday August 22nd, 2020 in her 85th year. Beloved wife of Calvin Wright for 65 years. Loving mother of Jane (Richard Miller), Gary, Brian, Kim, and Darren. Proud grandmother of Graeme, Frances, Daisy, Gerri-Lynn, Hannah, Alisha, Stephan, Nicolette, Theo (Shurland), Kail, and Brayden; great grandmother of Audrey, Grace, Cole, Clara, Norah, and Zola. Despite suffering from a crippling illness for the last decades of her life, Joan was a fighter who never complained. While we are all desperately sad that she is gone, we are relieved that her suffering is over. Her enduring legacy is her amazingly positive attitude, her true love for Jesus and her deep love for her family. Plus countless knitted sweaters and blankets! She always had a kind word or a witty come back, she was an absolute delight to be around and will be dearly missed by family, friends and pets.
Visitation will be held at the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James St E Orillia on Thursday, August 27 2020 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to assist the family or to a charity of your choice.
