19-year-old charged with impaired driving after vehicle hits tree

TINY TOWNSHIP - Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched at 2:45 a.m. Jan. 10, 2020 to a report of a single vehicle crash on Baseline Road south of Concession Road 2 Tiny Township.

Attending OPP officers and members of the County of Simcoe Paramedic Services attended to the driver for minor injuries sustained as the vehicle had struck a tree on the side of the roadway. After speaking with the driver, the officers entered into a drinking and driving investigation and arrested the driver at the scene and transported the driver back to Southern Georgian Bay detachment for further investigation.

As a result of this investigation, Jacob Conner Fay, 19 years of Tiny Township, has been charged with the following offences:
    •    Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs; and
    •    Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days and the accused's driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days under the conditions of the administrative drivers licence suspension (ADLS). The accused was released from police custody on a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on Jan. 23, 2020.
