Arrest made after vehicles broken into

A 20-year-old from Midland faces charges after two cars were entered

MIDLAND - Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched at 3 p.m. Aug. 26, 2019 to a report of unlawful entries and thefts from two parked cars in front of a Dominion Ave. residence.

The entries had occurred during the early hours of Aug. 26, 2019. Investigators had learned during the day of the male responsible for the entries and thefts and at 10:52 p.m. Aug. 26, 2019 officers were dispatched to a Midland Avenue residential complex for a police assistance occurrence.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers located and arrested Matthew Cascagnette, 20-years-old, of Midland and completed their investigation with the following Criminal Code of Canada charges:

  • two counts of Theft Under $5,000
  • two counts of Trespassing at Night
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada
  • three counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused was held for bail and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland at a future date.
