ORILLIA - On July 27, 2018 at approximately 4:40 p.m. a male approached a young female on the Memorial Avenue sidewalk. The male engaged the female in conversation then assaulted the female. There were no physical injuries and police do not believe there to be a danger to the public.
As a result of assistance from the public police identified, arrested and charged a 23-year-old male with Sexual Assault contrary to Section 271 of the Criminal Code and Sexual Interference contrary to Section 151 of the Criminal Code.
The male is being held in custody and set to appear in person at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on Sept. 28, 2018.
