Bracebridge man dies after snowmobile goes into water

Man was rushed to hospital but in spite of life-saving efforts, did not survive

BRACEBRIDGE - Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police officers, along with Bracebridge Fire Department and Muskoka EMS were dispatched to attend Bowyers Beach in Bracebridge shortly after 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2018 regarding a man operating a snowmobile that had gone into open water. 

Witnesses reported seeing the man fishing nearby and after he packed his belongings, he drove away on his snowmobile and into open water.

The 78-year-old Bracebridge man was located in the water and rushed to hospital but in spite of life-saving efforts, did not survive.
