Canada-wide warrant issued for man wanted in missing Markham couple’s murder

Suspect Phuong Tan Nguyen is considered armed and dangerous

A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for a 35-year-old Toronto man wanted in connection with the disappearance of a Markham couple now believed murdered.

Phuong Tan Nguyen, who also known as Mike, is facing first-degree murder charges, York Regional Police said.

Investigators believe that Quoc Tron, 37, and Kristy Nguyen, 25, were victims of foul play following a targeted attack at 111 Zenway Blvd. in Vaughan, where they were last seen around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, according to a news release.

Police have yet to recover the bodies.

Described as 5’9” and weighing 180 lbs., Nguyen is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached, call 911 immediately, police said.

He is being encouraged by police to seek legal counsel and turn himself in.

Investigators are reminding the public that anyone assisting the suspect may be subject to criminal charges.

Photographs of a vehicle of interest have also been released.

Anyone who recalls seeing the truck or its driver on Sept. 18 around 11:30 p.m. at 111 Zenway Blvd. near Highway 27 and Highway 7 are asked to come forward.
