On Sunday Jan. 9, 2020 at 8 p.m. Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police officers were dispatched to attend a residence in Bracebridge regarding a serious assault. A dispute within the home escalated quickly and one man was assaulted with a weapon and transported to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening issues and later released.
Police conducted an investigation into the matter and have arrested and charged 23 year-old Steven McCarty of Bracebridge with the following:
- Assault with a weapon CC267(a)
- Assault causing bodily harm CC267(b)
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm CC264.1(1)(a)
- Failing to comply with probation CC733.1(1) X 2
He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge for a Bail Hearing on Jan. 20, 2020.
