Driver charged with impaired after Highway 11 crash

Police say the vehicle left the roadway, crashed and witnesses saw the driver try to flee

GRAVENHURST – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a single vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 11 North just north of Doe Lake Road in Gravenhurst on Friday Aug. 14, 2020 at 5 a.m.

The vehicle left the roadway, crashed and witnesses reported seeing the driver trying to walk away from the scene.  

Officers arrived and located the uninjured man.

After an investigation into the collision, police arrested and charged 30 year-old Tyler Verville of Sault Ste. Marie, ON with the following: 

  • Impaired By Drug CC 320.14(1)(c)  
  • Possession of Schedule I (cocaine) for the Purpose of Trafficking CDSA 5(2)  
  • Possession of Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking CDSA 5(2)  
  • Possession of Schedule I Substance CDSA 4(1)  
  • Possession of Counterfeit Money CC 450(b) 
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition CC 92(2)  

He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Nov. 10, 2020 to answer to his charges - his driver's license has been suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded.
