Cocaine, meth and cash seized in raid at Peter Street house

On Nov. 14, 2019 the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a search warrant within the City of Orillia.

The Orillia OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) along with Orillia OPP members, Central Region Tactical Response Unit (TRU), Central Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and OPP Aviation Services executed a search warrant at a Peter Street South address.

As a result of the investigation police seized a quantity of suspected cocaine, methamphetamine and cash.

Police arrested and charged James McCartney, age 35, of Orillia, with the following:

  • Two counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance Contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
  • Two counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance For The Purpose Of Trafficking Contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.  

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear for Dec. 17, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia.
