Five charged in relation to nine break and enters

MIDLAND - Members of OPP Community Street Crime Unit attached to the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police have charged five area adults in relation to nine break and enter occurrences.

These occurrences occurred in Tiny Township (4) Tay Township (2) and the Towns of Penetanguishene (1) and Midland (2) during the months of January and February 2018.

An extensive amount of stolen property from these theft occurrences valued at over $10,000 including a large collection of Canadian Forces Service Medals recently recovered have been returned to the victims.

Charged are as follows with offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada:

Josh Thompson, 40-years-old of Midland

  • Eight counts of Break, Enter dwelling house - commit indictable offence contrary to section 348(1) (b)
  • Four counts of Trafficking in Stolen Goods under $5,000 (incl. possession with intent to traffic) contrary to section 355.5(b)
  • 12 counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to section 733.1(1)
  • Obstruct Peace Officer contrary to section 129(a)
  • Possession Break In Instruments contrary to section 351(1)
  • Four counts of Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada contrary to section  354(1) (a)
  • Theft Under $5,000 contrary to section 334(b)

He was arrested and held for bail and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland at a future date.

Kimberly Gibson, 45-years-old of Midland

  • Three counts of Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada contrary to section 354(1) (a)

She was released from police custody on a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland at a future date.

Joseph Courriere, 29-years-old of Penetanguishene

  • Three counts of  CC 354(1)(a) Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 - in Canada contrary to section 354(1)(a)

He was arrested and held for bail and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland at a future date.

Tyler McCue, 27-years-old of Midland

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 - in Canada contrary to section 354(1) (a)
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to section 733.1(1)

He was arrested and held for bail and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland at a future date.

Cara Dawn Belfry, 29-years-old of Midland

  • Three counts Break, Enter a place - commit indictable offence contrary to section 348(1) (b)
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000 - in Canada contrary to section 354(1) (a)

She was arrested and held for bail and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland at a future date.
