INNISFIL - A 24-year-old Orillia man is facing a dozen charges following a vehicle stop in Innisfil.
On Tuesday, April 9 2019 around 11:30 a.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer investigated a vehicle with a flat tire parked on the side of 5th Sideroad at the 4th Line. Investigation revealed that the licence plates on the vehicle were stolen. A man was arrested at the scene for possession of stolen property. He provided information to police which prompted a search involving K9 and multiple officers for the supposed driver of the vehicle.
No driver was found and the search was eventually called off. As a result of further investigation, the man was subsequently charged with the following offences:
• operation while prohibited (3 counts)
• breach probation (3 counts)
• possession of stolen property
• public mischief
• drive while under suspension
• owner operate motor vehicle - no insurance
• use plate not authorized for vehicle
• fail to apply for permit on becoming owner
The accused was released with a future court date and the vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
