Halton Hills man dead following Highway 400 crash

TAY TOWNSHIP - Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were dispatched shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday to a single vehicle crash on the south-bound shoulder of Highway 400 just north of the Fesserton Side Road in Tay Township.

Responding officers along with County of Simcoe Paramedic Services and Tay Township Fire Services attended the scene and located the lone male driver with his vehicle.

Sadly, Christopher Violo, 28, of Halton Hills passed away at the scene of the crash.

Members of the OPP Traffic Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to assist in the investigation into the cause of the crash which closed southbound lanes of Highway 400 until 9:37 p.m. Aug. 5, 2018.

Police remind motorists that an essential part of the enforcement job is to save lives and reduce injuries on our trails, roadways and waterways. Educating the public about safe driving practices is a priority.
