Highway 11 crash leaves pedestrian with life-threatening injuries

GRAVENHURST - Members of the Bracebridge Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews remain on scene of a serious collision in the southbound lanes of Highway 11.

Shortly before 5:00 a.m. this morning a pedestrian was struck on the southbound section of Highway 11 near Sparrow Lake Road D in the Town of Gravenhurst.

A 30-year-old female received serious life threatening injuries and has been transported to a Toronto area trauma centre. The vehicle involved failed to remain at the scene.

The southbound lanes of Highway 11 will remain closed for several hours while OPP members trained in collision reconstruction measure, document the scene, and gather evidence.

The Bracebridge OPP are looking for person(s) who may have witnessed this collision and may be able to identify the vehicle involved.
