Investigation of fraudulent credit card activity leads to arrest

Resident's vehicle was broken into before his credit card was used; Man faces two fraud charges

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police Southern Georgian Bay detachment received a report of a number of unlawful entries to parked vehicles in the Shewfelt Drive and Yonge Street area of Midland on Aug. 12, 2019.

Officers followed up on the investigation after a vehicle owner reported fraudulent credit card activity.

On Sept. 10, 2019, OPP officers arrested and charged Jamie Dube, 38 years old, of Midland with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada-

  • 2 counts fraud under $5000

He was held in custody to appear Ontario Court of Justice bail court in Barrie and released to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on Sept. 26, 2019.
