MIDLAND - Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with our community partners kicked off the annual Festive RIDE program in North Simcoe on Dec. 13, 2019.

Officers since then have initiated 54 R.I.D.E. check stops on area roadways checking 1,900 vehicles and operators in an effort to Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) with 25 drivers providing samples into Roadside Screening Devices at the various locations.

Two drivers have had their driving privileges suspended for three days or more under the conditions of the administrative driver's licence suspension as a result of "Alert" reading on the Roadside Screening Device.

Involved officers and our community partners - Safe and Sober Awareness Committee and MADD Canada would like to thank those drivers checked at those R.I.D.E. check stops for making the right choice this Festive Season.
