Local senior faces obstruction charge in Justin Evans investigation

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid a charge during the investigation of a missing person, whose body was found earlier this month.

The Bracebridge Detachment of the OPP, along with the Muskoka Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, began an investigation into the disappearance of 22-year-old Justin Evans from Gravenhurst, in December of 2020. His remains were discovered by a hiker on May 19, 2021.

On May 28, 2021, the OPP charged 70-year-old Kenneth McKinney of Gravenhurst, with obstruct justice under section 139(2) of the Criminal Code. The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on July 13, 2021.
