Man brandishing knife wanted for robbery of convenience store

The male fled the Memorial Avenue store on foot; OPP officers, with help of canine unit, were not able to locate the suspect

A male, brandishing a knife, allegedly demanded money from a store employee at a Memorial Avenue convenience store on Sunday.

Police say the male entered the store at around 2 a.m., approached the employee, showed a knife, and then demanded money.

After obtaining a "small amount of cash," the man fled the scene on foot, southbound, on Memorial Avenue, before police arrived.

Orillia OPP officers conducted an extensive search of the area with the assistance of the canine unit. However, the suspect was not located.

The suspect is described as a white male, 25 to 30 years old, with a thin build. He is about 5'8" tall and was wearing blue jeans and a dark hoodie with the hood up. He also wore a dark-coloured baseball hat and had a black mask covering his face, say police.

Orillia OPP also ask the suspect to seek legal advice and turn himself in to Orillia OPP.
