Man charged following Bracebridge stabbing

BRACEBRIDGE - Members of the Ontario Provincial Police Bracebridge Detachment have laid charges after an assault has left one man with serious injuries.

On Saturday, March 16, at approximately 2:30 a.m., police were patrolling the area of Manitoba Street and Monck Road when they were approached by a man indicating that he had been stabbed. The victim had significant injuries to his head and neck and was bleeding badly. Given the severity of the injuries officers transported the injured man to South Muskoka Memorial Hospital for emergency medical treatment.

Investigators went to task identifying witnesses and were able to locate the crime scene. From there, OPP Emergency Response Team and OPP Canine Unit conducted a search. Police investigation into the attack identified the suspect and police attended his residence where he was taken into custody without incident.

Twenty-two-year-old Devin Milligan of Bracebridge was arrested and charged with aggravated assault under the Criminal Code. He was held in custody pending his appearance before the Ontario Court of Justice.

The victims injuries were serious but not deemed to be life threatening.
