Man faces drug charges following Gravenhurst snowbank collision

Police say they received multiple calls regarding an erratic driver before he allegedly left the roadway and collided into a snowbank

On Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020 at 7:40 p.m. Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police officers received multiple calls regarding a vehicle that was travelling northbound on Highway 11 in Gravenhurst in a very erratic manner. The vehicle eventually left the roadway and collided with a snowbank near Sedore Road.

Officers were quickly at the scene with Muskoka EMS and after an investigation into the collision, arrested and charged 45-year-old Jason Schell of Georgian Bay Twp, ON with:  

  • Impaired operation by drug CC 320.14(1)(a )
  • Possession of a schedule I substance (heroin) for the purpose of trafficking CDSA 5(1)
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle CC 320.13(1)
  • Driving while suspended HTA 53(1)
  • Fail to remain HTA 200(1)(a)

He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Feb.  11, 2020 to answer to his charges.
