Man faces several charges after crashing car into tree

Police say the driver didn't have permission to drive the vehicle that was crashed; The 25-year-old has been charged with impaired and other offences

BRACEBRIDGE – On Sept. 16, 2020 at 6:30 a.m. Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to motor vehicle collision on Manitoba Street in Bracebridge where a vehicle had crashed into a tree. The driver was transported to hospital with minor injuries and the investigation revealed that he did not have permission to be driving the vehicle he crashed.  

Police have arrested and charged 25-year-old Jacob Dewasha of Bracebridge with the following:  

  • Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent CC 335(1)  
  • Operation while Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a)  
  • Failure to Comply with Demand CC 320.15(1) 
  • Fail to Report Accident HTA 199(1)  

He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Nov. 24, 2020 to answer to his charges - his driver's license has been suspended for 90 days.
