Opioid use suspected in death of Bracebridge resident

BRACEBRIDGE - Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Muskoka Crime Unit are investigating the sudden death of a Bracebridge resident after being called to the residence just after 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019. The death is suspected to be related to the use of opioids.

Police would like to again draw attention to this dangerous situation as agencies across Canada have been investigating deaths believed to have been caused directly or indirectly by the illegal acquisition, distribution, use and misuse of opioids.

This has led to what many are calling a "public health crisis," as numbers of deaths due to overdose continue to rise across the country and the province.

It's important that the public report all crime and public safety threats to police. Anyone with information is asked to please call Bracebridge OPP at (888)310-1122 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
