OPP, Homeland Security probing counterfeit merchandise in Wasaga

WASAGA BEACH – As a result of a joint investigation between members of the Huronia West Crime Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Canadian Anti-Counterfeiting Network, with assistance from the United States Department of Homeland Security (USDHS) and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC), several search warrants were executed this morning shortly after 11 a.m.

These search warrants were executed as part of an ongoing counterfeit merchandise investigation in the area of Beach Drive and First Street in the Town of Wasaga Beach. Please expect an increased police presence in the area.

There is no threat to public safety. More details will be released when available as the investigation is ongoing.
