OPP investigating drowning of North York man in Bracebridge

The 20-year-old went into distress while swimming in Muskoka River and slipped under the water; CPR efforts, ultimately, failed

BRACEBRIDGE - Members of the Bracebridge Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police and emergency crews were called to assist after a male failed to surface while swimming in the Muskoka River Sunday afternoon shortly before 1 p.m.  

 A male was swimming in the river with a friend when he went in to distress and slipped under the water.  The male was located by bystanders and CPR was initiated.

 Roberto Carmona, age 20, of North York, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

 This investigation is ongoing.
