OPP looking for suspect who attempted B&E at convenience store

Owner heard smashing sounds, went to investigate and the person fled; OPP seeking surveillance camera footage

Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to an attempted break and enter at a convenience store located on Muskoka Road South near Bay Street this morning at 5:20 a.m.

The store owner heard the smashing, went to investigate, and saw a person breaking his front door. The suspect fled when he saw the owner, running south on Muskoka Road South, behind local businesses and onto John Street.

The suspect is described as a male person wearing a camo-coloured jacket and possibly construction type boots.

Police are asking anyone who may have surveillance footage in the Muskoka Road South/Hotchkiss Street/John Street and/or Bay Street area to please check their footage between 4:30 a.m. - 5:30 a.m.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incidents or may have seen suspicious activity in the area is asked to contact the Bracebridge OPP at 1-888-310-1122 to assist in these investigations.
