SEVERN - The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) issued a hold and secure at Severn Shores School in the Township of Severn.

On Nov. 12, 2019 shortly before 2:30 p.m., the Orillia OPP received a serious call in close proximity to Severn Shores public school that caused police to request a hold and secure.

The incident was resolved quickly and the students and staff were able to resume their activities safely. There was no threat made directly or implied to the school; students or staff.

A hold and secure is called when there is an incident going on outside the school environment. These types of incidents could be for on-going police investigations, weather-related or anything that warrants extra precautions to be taken.
