Orillia OPP make arrest in Rosemary Road arson

On Sunday Feb. 25, 2018 the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a structure fire in the City of Orillia. 

At approximately 4:30 p.m. the Orillia OPP was called to a Rosemary Road residence with reports of a structure fire. When officers arrived on the scene The Orillia Fire Department (OFD) were tending to the fire and County of Simcoe Paramedic Services (CSPS) were on the scene for medical needs.

Investigation reveals that after a dispute the male who is known to the home owner set the house on fire. Police arrested the male at the scene without incident. The Orillia OPP Crime Unit was called in for the investigation.

31-year-old Spencer Phillips of Orillia has been charged with Arson Contrary to Section 433 of the Criminal Code and Assault Contrary to Section 266 of the Criminal Code. The accused has been held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie.
