A pellet gun and conducted energy weapon were seized after Orillia OPP arrested a pair of e-bike operators recently.

Orillia OPP officers recently witnessed a pair of e-bikes that were being driven in "an unsafe manner" by two operators who were not wearing the proper safety equipment.

Upon stopping the two e-bikes near the intersection of Barrie Road and Memorial Avenue on May 28, police determined one individual was a suspended driver and had an outstanding warrant.

During the investigation officers located a black pellet gun, a conducted energy weapon, as well as suspected fentanyl.

The second individual was also identified as a suspended driver. Police located suspected cocaine in the possession of the second individual during the investigation.

The two are facing multiple charges as a result of this incident.

Adam Norwood, 35, of Orillia, is accused of possessing a dangerous weapon, unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of "break-in" instruments, possession of opioids, driving while under suspension and operating a power-assisted bicycle not in good working order.

Christopher Draper, 38, also of Orillia, is accused of possession of cocaine, driving while under suspension, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and operating a power-assisted bicycle not in good working order.

Draper and Norwood were both released on an undertaking and will answer the charges July 19, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia.

"Orillia OPP would like to remind all e-bike operators that they are responsible for following the rules of the road and educating themselves on the Ministry of Transportation regulations related to their vehicles," notes an OPP release.
