The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is currently investigating a barricaded person incident which occurred on William Street in the City of Orillia.

On March 28, 2018 at approximately 10 p.m., Orillia OPP members attended a William Street address to arrest a male. The male indicated he had a firearm and refused to comply with police.

As a result of the unfolding incident Orillia Crime Unit, Orillia Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Central Region Tactics and Response Unit (TRU), Central Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), Central Region Canine (K9) and OPP Mobile Support Unit were dispatched to the William Street address.

At approximately 4:30 a.m. the male was arrested without further incident. Information will be released only when it is made available.
