Officers with the York Regional Police #3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau continue to investigate following a fatal fire at a residence in the Town of Georgina.

On Friday, May 20, 2022, shortly after 3 p.m., police, York Region Paramedic Services and Georgina Fire and Rescue Services were called to a residence on Highway 48, near High St. for a report of a fire.

When officers arrived they found the home fully engulfed in flames. One person was located inside the home deceased.

Georgina Fire and Rescue Services arrived and extinguished the fire.

The Ontario Fire Marshal was contacted and is investigating.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the area to please come forward.
