Police investigating suspicious package at Midland Walmart

MIDLAND - The Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police and the OPP Explosive Disposal Unit is attending the scene at the Walmart on Highway 12 in Midland in response to a report of a suspicious package at the store.

Staff contacted the OPP at approximately 1:30 p.m. and advised that they were in the process of evacuating the employees and shoppers as a precaution.

In the interest of public safety, the OPP has established a perimeter around the area of the store and are restricting access to the area until further notice. The public is being asked to stay away from Walmart at this time.

The OPP investigation is continuing and further information will be provided as it becomes available.
