Two charged with trafficking crack cocaine in Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE - On April 4, 2019, the Muskoka Community Street Crime Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police conducted an investigation in Huntsville into two men trafficking crack cocaine.  

At approximately 1:35 p.m., the first male was arrested in the Town of Huntsville. Officers located approximately two ounces of crack cocaine in his vehicle. He was returned to the Huntsville OPP Detachment.

At approximately 3:35 p.m., the second male was arrested at the hotel where the two men were staying at. He was also returned to the Huntsville OPP Detachment.  

Later in the evening, a search warrant was executed at the room that they two males had been staying.

Officers located approximately eight ounces of crack cocaine, $1,365 in Canadian currency, and two loaded hand guns with prohibited magazines. The total street value of the cocaine and the currency seized is over $30,000.

 As a result, the following two men have been charged:

 Daniel Julius Robinson, 26, of Scarborough, Ont.:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance - cocaine for the purpose of trafficking S. 5(2) Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 S. 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Two counts careless storage of a firearm S. 86(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Two counts of unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm S. 91(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Two counts of possession of a prohibited device - over capacity magazine S. 92(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Two counts of possession of a loaded restricted firearm S. 95(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Eight counts of possession of a firearm/ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order S. 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada (four prohibition orders, two firearms seized in this incident)

Jake Robert Small, 25, of Scarborough, Ont.:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance - cocaine for the purpose of trafficking S. 5(2) Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 S. 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Two counts careless storage of a firearm S. 86(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Two counts of unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm S. 91(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Two counts of possession of a prohibited device - over capacity magazine S. 92(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Two counts of possession of a loaded restricted firearm S. 95(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Three counts of fail to comply with probation S. 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada

Both accused have been held for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on April 5, 2019 at 1 p.m.
