On Tuesday Aug. 21, 2018 the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were notified of a residential break and enter that had occurred during daylight hours on Telford Line, Severn Township. The home owner returned home to find that a rear door had been forced open and that a quantity of jewelry, power tools and keys to recreational vehicles had been stolen.

Further investigation revealed that a neighbour had seen a white pickup truck with a black grille parked behind the victim's residence at approximately 12:30 p.m. The neighbour also reported that a male had knocked on his door several times and when confronted said that he was selling carpet cleaning services and that he would take the carpets off property to be cleaned. The witness did not see a vehicle in the area at that time. The male did not produce any identification or a business card when asked.

The male is described as 35 to 40 years of age, 5'8" with a slim build, wearing a red shirt and a hat. The witness described the male as white with no facial hair.

Police are looking for witnesses who may have seen the suspect or vehicle in the area of Severn Township, particularly in the Cambrian Road and Telford Line area. If anyone has any information surrounding this break and enter they are encouraged to contact the Orillia OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or 705-326-3536.
