Police seek public's help in nabbing person behind Simcoe Street theft

Police say the suspect was driving a late model grey Mazda 5 van or similar vehicle

On Sunday Dec. 15, the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call regarding a theft from a vehicle.

Just before 9 p.m. on Dec. 15, 2019, an unknown male parked his vehicle on Simcoe Street. The male approached the rear of a vehicle parked at a residence on Simcoe Street. At this time he removed the trailer hitch receiver from the vehicle and left the scene. 

The suspect is described as:

  • male white
  • approximately 6 feet tall
  • thin build
  • short hair
  • wearing a dark jacket
  • light colored hoodie
  • dark pants
  • dark shoes 

The vehicle is described as a late model grey Mazda 5 van or vehicle similar.
