Police seek witnesses to George Street dog attack

Police say the dog was off leash and one of the dogs attacked suffered serious injuries in the attack

Members of the Orillia detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are appealing to the public for information regarding a dog attack that occurred on George Street, Orillia.

On June 9, 2021, approximately 8:30 p.m., a male was walking his two dogs on George Street when he encountered a black dog which was not on a leash. The male picked up his two small dogs and attempted to walk past the area but was attacked by the loose dog.

One of the small dogs suffered severe injuries in the attack. The male was then assisted by a female, who was in the area, and a male driving a blue van, both of whom are believed to have witnessed the incident.

Police are continuing to investigate but have yet to identify the two witnesses. If you saw the incident or have any information, please contact the Orillia OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
