Rama Police nab four impaired drivers during weekend patrols

Two females and two males are facing charges after four separate incidents between midnight Friday and 8 p.m. Sunday

Over the course of the weekend, Rama Police conducted four drinking and driving investigations.

Around midnight on Aug. 6, officers responded to reports of a disturbance near Casino Rama with subjects seen leaving the area in a vehicle. Officers quickly intercepted the vehicle and the driver was arrested after failing a roadside test.

As a result of the investigation, a 21-year-old female from Midland was charged with impaired driving.

Just after midnight on Saturday, Aug. 7, officers completed two separate investigations. In one incident, a 38-year-old female from Mississauga was issued a three-day driver's licence suspension after registering an alert during a roadside test.

In the second incident, a 22-year-old male from Peterborough was stopped on Atherley Road near Rama Road for a sobriety check after being observed weaving in his lane. The driver wa arrested for impaired driving. He was later charged and released on a Form 9 for impaired operation and over 80 mg after evidence showed he was two times over the legal limit.

Around 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 8, an officer conducted a traffic stop on County Road 169 near Rama Road. The driver was arrested after failing a roadside test.

As a result of the investigation, a 51-year-old male from Mount Albert was later charged and released on a Form 9 for impaired operation and over 80 mg after evidence showed he was three times over the legal limit.

Police would like to remind drivers that the message is simple: If you drink, don't drive.
