School bus driver charged in Tay Township crash

Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded at 9:20 am March 18, 2019 to a report of a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Jephson Street and Albert Street in Tay Township.

The involved vehicles were a school bus with 44 passengers aboard and a passenger van, no occupants of either vehicle sustained injuries in the crash which caused a temporary road closure while the bus was removed from the scene.

The driver of the school bus was charged with a Highway Traffic Act offence following the investigation into the cause of the crash.

Motorists are reminded to follow the Ministry of Transportation site Ontario 511 for information on road conditions and  @OPP_COMM_CR on Twitter for road closures.

Police remind motorists that an essential part of the enforcement job is to save lives and reduce injuries on our roadways. Educating the public about safe driving practices is a priority.
