Search warrant leads to drug charges for Orillia man

ORO-MEDONTE - On July 23, 2018, the Orillia detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a search warrant at a residence in Oro-Medonte.

The Orillia Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and Orillia Crime Unit conducted an investigation into information regarding another incident which happened in the City of Orillia.

A search warrant was executed at an Oro-Medonte residence by Orillia CSCU, Orillia Crime Unit, Central Region Tactics and Response Unit (TRU), Central Region Emergency Response Unit (ERT), Central Region Canine and Central Region Regional Support Team (RST)

As a result of the search warrant police were able to locate cocaine, marijuana and stolen property.

Police arrested Brandon McCue, 34, of Orillia. When the accused was arrested, police found another quantity of cocaine, heroin and oxycodone.

The accused has been charged with:

  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
  • Four counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking Contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
  • Four counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance Contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
  • Possession of a Schedule II Substance contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The accused has been remanded in custody and is set to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on July 31, 2018.
