Second arrest made in April drug investigation

A search warrant executed in Orillia on April 4 has lead to the arrest of a Toronto resident

On April 4, 2018, the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit and Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) conducted a search warrant at an Orillia residence. As a result of this ongoing investigation a second person was arrested on Aug. 24, 2018.

A man was charged with trafficking in a schedule I substance (fentanyl) contrary to section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. (Those charges have been withdrawn)

The accused was released from custody after a bail hearing and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia on Sept. 25, 2018.

The Orillia Crime Unit, Orillia Community Street Crime Unit along with the Orillia OPP will continue to investigate incidents where fentanyl and other dangerous drugs are being trafficked in our community. If anyone has information regarding drug trafficking they are encouraged to contact the Orillia OPP at 705-326-3536 or 1-888-310-1122.
