Serious collision shut down Highway 12 overnight

Driver was taken to hospital with critical injuries and later airlifted to a Toronto hospital

RAMARA - Members of the Orillia detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) assisted with a serious collision on Highway 12 near County Road 169, Ramara Township, which sent one driver to hospital with critical injuries and caused the roads to remain closed overnight.

On July 18, 2021, approximately 10:20 p.m., emergency services were called to a serious collision on Highway 12 involving a tractor trailer and a passenger vehicle.

The driver of the passenger vehicle was transported to local hospital with critical injuries and was later airlifted to a Toronto Hospital. The driver of the transport was uninjured.

OPP Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) members attended the scene and Highway 12 remained closed for several hours pending investigation. Reopening of the roadways was further delayed due to the safe removal and inspection of the commercial motor vehicle. All roads have now been reopened.
