Severn Township man facing stunt driving and impaired charges

SEVERN TOWNSHIP - A member of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police was conducting traffic patrol on Vasey Road in Severn Township at 7:43 p.m. on April 10, 2019 when the officer had the opportunity to stop an east bound vehicle for a stunt driving offence.

The officer spoke with the lone male driver once stopped and entered into a drinking and driving investigation after observing the driver. The investigation lead to the following charges for Myles Varriano, 24 years of Severn Township:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Drive while under suspension
  • Race a motor vehicle Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario
  • Owner operate a motor vehicle with no insurance Contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

His vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for 7 days and his drivers license has been suspended for 90 days under the Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) program. He was released with a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on April 25, 2019.
