Stolen truck recovered; three arrested in Orillia

On Nov. 29, the Bracebridge Community Street Crime Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police conducted an investigation into multiple people, which resulted in the recovery of a 2017 Dodge Ram Laramie Longhorn valued at over $70,000.

At approximately 2:20 p.m, with the assistance of the Orillia OPP, two traffic stops were conducted off of Coldwater Road in Orillia. One driver fled the vehicle on foot down Coldwater Road and was quickly apprehended. Officers located a quantity of stolen property, break-in instruments, and false licence plates. A 2017 Dodge Ram Laramie Longhorn, which was stolen from the Midland area in September, was also recovered.

As a result of this investigation, the following people have been charged:

  • Gustav Nelson Hansen, 48, of the District of Muskoka, and Surrey, B.C. — possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, flight while pursued by police, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, driving a motor vehicle while under suspension, driving motor vehicle with no plates

  • Ernest James Walla, 46, of Gravenhurst — possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession of break-in instruments, (arrested on warrant) fail to comply with justice of the peace recognizance

  • John David Hussey, 39, of Erin — possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession of break-in instruments

All three accused have been held for a bail hearing Friday at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge.
