Suspect nabbed with large amount of cash, facing new charges

30-year-old was arrested for breach of recognizance and was in possession of money obtained by crime

On Feb. 12, 2019 at approximately 5:30 p.m. the Orillia OPP and Orillia Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) arrested and charged 30-year-old Janilyn Batac of North York for Breach of Recognizance Contrary to Section 145(3) of the Criminal Code. 

Upon arrest, the CSCU discovered a large sum of cash. The accused was re-arrested and charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

The accused was held in custody and is set to appear next at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie via video on Feb. 20, 2019.
