Suspected fentanyl found after vehicle lands in ditch: OPP

The 48-year-old man faces impaired, possession charges

TINY TOWNSHIP - Members of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded at 9:35 a.m. May 19, 2021 to a driving complaint followed by a call of a vehicle into the ditch on Champlain Road in Tiny Township.

Attending officers spoke with the lone driver and entered into an impaired driving investigation.

Further scene investigation resulted in the seizure of a quantity of a substance believed to be fentanyl, a set of scales and drug related paraphernalia.

The driver was transported back to detachment for further investigation by a OPP Drug Recognition Officer (DRE) to determine the cause and level of impairment.

As a result of this investigation Jason Roger Dolson, 48 years old of Tiny Township, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired - drugs
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Take motor vehicle without consent

Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

and further

  • Possession of a schedule I substance - Opioid (other than heroin)

Contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

The accused was released from custody on an recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on June 3, 2021. The accused was also served a 90-day drivers licence suspension along with a 45-day vehicle impound in keeping with the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.
