MIDLAND - Members of Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to remind all motorists that the 2019/2020 school year starts locally on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019 and that means those bright yellow school buses will be rolling out bright and early to pick up students throughout our communities.

Remember drivers:

  • Focus 100 per cent of your attention on the road and put away unnecessary distractions.
  • Slowdown in school zones and respect the posted speed limit. There will be a high volume of students traveling between home and school by bus, on foot and by bicycle.
  • Be aware of school buses with their flashing lights activated. The fine for passing a school bus with its lights activated is $490 minimum and six demerit points.

Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police are committed to public safety, delivering proactive and innovative policing in partnership with our communities. Officers value your contribution to building safe communities.

If you have information about suspected unlawful activity, please contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or visit Crime Stoppers at: www.crimestopperssdm.com or call 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
