Three youth – aged 12, 13 and 14 – charged with attempted murder in Vaughan

Investigators with the York Regional Police #4 District Criminal Investigations Bureau have charged three youths following a stabbing that occurred outside of the Vaughan Mills Mall.

On Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020 shortly after 6 p.m., York Regional Police were called to the Vaughan Mills Mall located at 1 Bass Pro Mills Dr., for a report of a stabbing. When officers arrived they located a 14-year-old male youth suffering from stab wounds. He was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries where he remains.

With the assistance of Vaughan Mills Mall security personnel, investigators were able to determine that a large group of youths were involved in a fight outside of mall entry #3. Shortly after the fight began the victim was stabbed and most of the group involved dispersed. Officers located three youths who were involved and they have been charged.

    •    14-year-old male youth

    •    Aggravated assault
    •    Assault with a weapon

    •    12-year-old male youth
    •    13-year-old male youth

Charges:
    •    Attempted murder - party to the offence
    •    Aggravated assault - party to the offence
    •    Assault with a weapon - party to the offence

Investigators believe that there were witnesses who captured video of this incident on their mobile devices who fled prior to police arrival. Those witnesses are urged to contact investigators as soon as possible.  

The investigation is ongoing.
